Weaving history and heritage into the design. The Feng Chen Wang x Converse Jack Purcell interprets the Mandarin characters of ‘Feng Chen Wang’ (王逢陈) and deconstructs each character as a pattern piece that embodies the silhouette.
Continuing to re-iterate Converse’s sport classics, the Feng Chen Wang x Converse Jack Purcell manifests Feng’s heritage and identity – both conceptually and physically.
The design revises the dimension and volume of the classic Jack Purcell silhouette’s upper, altering the traditionally slim profile – combining the use of suede and leather and exaggerating the contours with signature layering created by interpreting ‘Feng Chen Wang’ in three Mandarin character (王逢陈). Each character is deconstructed and designed as a pattern piece that embodies the silhouette’s upper – to depart and celebrate both Feng and Converse’s heritage and identity.
The capsule collection explores the intersection of opposites; fabrics, colours and techniques which focuses on asymmetrical construction – creating a composition that provides added dimension with an acute focus on material, structure and reflectivity.
